Week 14

This week I finished my self-authorship. I got all of the layouts put together and I printed 3 copies of the book. I also finished my website. I put the rest of my projects up and changed all of my project-write-ups. I also printed out my Strawberry Shortcake Diet layouts for the senior show. I got my iPad magazine transferred onto an iPad to be viewed at the show.

Week 13

I got my business cards ordered and they came in the mail. I got my TreeTops website live through GoDaddy. I spent most of the week focused on my self authorship. I have been taking photos and I started putting the layouts together. I also made some changes to my resume and cover letter and got them printed. I have also worked more on getting my website finished.

Week 12

This week I redid my project write-ups. I also started working on my self promo. I have also been trying to get my TreeTops Rescue website hosted through GoDaddy. I have been struggling with that. I can't figure out what I am supposed to do. I have also finalized my business cards and should be ordering them sometime this week.

Week 11

This week I worked more on my iPad magazine. I took the feedback that I got from the mini portfolio review and started making some changes. I also started taking some of my pictures for my self authorship.

Week 10

This week I worked on my website and my self promo. I got most of my work plugged into my website. I also started working on my self promo. I had two ideas that I am interested in. The one idea was to create paint chips with my info and some of my projects on them and then clamp them together to make a paint chip sampler like the ones paint stores have. The other idea was to print one of my projects on one side of paper, my info on the other side, and then fold that paper into some kind of origami shape. I am leaning more towards the origami idea.

Week 9

This week I focused on getting all of my articles written for my self-authorship. I also changed my layouts just a tad by having one typeface used at least once in the title of each article. This helps with the continuity within the book.

Week 8 (Spring Break)

This week I worked more on my iPad menu. I found more images of the food. I also worked more on writing the articles for my self authorship. And I tweaked my TreeTops website a little. I had some minor issues that I fixed. I also started putting together a business card.

Week 7

This week I worked more on my iPad menu. I added slideshows to each of the pages and added some more color to the pages. I split some of the pages from one to two pages, because when I added the slideshow in, I didn't have enough room for all of the content. I think I am close to finishing this project. I just need to find high resolution images for each option and come up with an idea as to why this restaurant is unique. I may need to change the background story that I originally had to fit this new brand.

I also started to write the content (articles) for my self-authorship book. I decided to make the articles sound more like a blog post than a professional article. I felt that this would be more acceptable since it's a book written by a college student to incoming college students. It makes the articles feel more personable if I tell them from my point of view than from the third persons view.

I also finished editing my digital publication. All I have left to do for that project is to rerecord the walk-through and add a voice over to it.

Week 6

This week I made more changes to my Strawberry Shortcake Diet. I changed some of the text and added a recipe to the last page. I worked more on my iPad menu. I also added a Reference page to my digital publication and changed some of the typefaces in the article titles.

Week 5

This week I published the survey for my self-authorship. I am asking people about their experiences at college and I am going to use their responses to create the articles for my How To guide. I also finished my Bianco e Nero logo animation. I also started playing around with interactions in my menu. I made some changes to my resume. I also started creating the layouts for my self-authorship publication.

Week 4

This week I finished my Strawberry Shortcake Diet layouts. I also started putting my Type 1 menu into an interactive iPad menu. In addition to that, I have also been looking for better pictures to use so I can update my digital iPad magazine publication. I had planned to have my logo animation finished by now, but I ran into a snag that has delayed me. The music file that I used for the background seems to have gone missing. I have the original file but I had cut and edited the music to make it fit in the video. I now have to go back and redo those steps before being finished.

Week 3

This week I played around with the type on my Strawberry Shortcake Diet publication project to make it more interesting. I moved the type around so that it interacted with the images more. Then I started putting the images into a mockup.

Week 2 Tuesday Group

On Tuesday, we went through all but 3 people in the class and viewed everyone's work.

Outside of class, I started working on another kinetic typography video to add to my portfolio.
Once I start getting into fixing my other work, this will most likely go onto the back-burner.

I also created my schedule for the semester.

Portfolio Schedule

February 13th – have Bianco e Nero logo animation completed
February 27th – have Bianco e Nero menu put onto iPad
March 13th – have Strawberry Shortcake Diet finished
March 20th – have iPad magazine finished
April 3rd – have RoomView app finished
April 24th – have TreeTops website finished

Throughout whole semester, I will be working on my self-authorship, self promo, and any miscellaneous projects.

Week 1 Tuesday Group

Today I finished my Self-Authorship proposal:

Just the other day, my roommate and I were talking about how expensive college textbooks are. Last year, she introduced me to a couple of websites that sell or rent textbooks at a cheaper price than the school bookstore. In fact, I rented my textbook for my winter class from one of those websites and it only cost me $12 (instead of $200 that I would have paid if I had purchased it from the bookstore). As we were talking the other night, I mentioned to her that I had wished that someone had told me about these kinds of websites back in freshman year when I was paying the bookstore close to $1,000 just for textbooks. This gave me the idea to create kind of a “Guide/Cheat sheet” on how to get the most out of your college career.

I have an older sister who gave me a few tips going into college, but there was so much more that I wish I had known back in freshman and sophomore year that I know now. Things like, take full advantage of the campus gym in your early years because once you get into your junior and senior year, you most likely will not have any free time to use it. And that moving into an apartment will probably be the best decision you ever make. I wish I had been told these things before coming to college so I want to take my experiences, along with experiences from other students and put them together into a helpful guide for incoming students.

I also typed up everything that could possibly be put on my resume.
